  1. You MUST have submitted your registration and photography consent form by email or bring it with you so that NWGC have received these PRIOR to your child entering the gym.
  2. Your fee's invoice MUST have been paid PRIOR to your child's first session. If their fee's have not been paid then they will not be able to participate in their allocated class.
  3. We will have our welfare officers, coaches on hand to guide you in the 'right direction' on arrival. We will have some forms for registration and photography consent available if you happen to forget them, but these must be filled in immediately on arrival so that your child may participate.

  1. Due to a delay from building suppliers it is not going to be possible for our upstairs viewing area to be open. Unfortunately this means that you will not be able to watch the sessions until this work is complete. Our building team are working very hard to get this done asap. We know this will cause some initial disappointment and possible inconvenience, however this is totally beyond anyones control and we will open the upstairs area as soon as we are able to and we thank you in advance for your understanding.

12th September - GYMNASTS INSURANCE -

Please read through the guidelines published by British Gymnastics regarding Membership 2017/18 for new members and those who need to renew their membership (insurance).

(BG FAQ's page is live - but they have incorrectly stated that the registration is live - this does not happen until the 1st October.)

Invoices for the BG and Eastern Counties Insurance will be sent to each gymnast next week. From the 1st October each parent must follow the BG process as set out in their guidelines to register their gymnast.

Current NWGC gymnasts are covered by their current membership until 30th September 2017.

New NWGC gymnasts are covered under the 'taster sessions insurance' until their details can be submitted on 1st October 2017.

Please note that all general gymnasts and squad gymnasts will be training for 45 weeks of the year. (There will be 5 shut down weeks and 2 weeks we have missed so far in September.)

The invoice amount will remain the same EVERY MONTH.

Therefore your fees have been calculated for 45 weeks of the year and divided into 12 equal payments in an attempt to make it easier for parents setting up a standing order.

Those training 1hr on Mondays have been deducted two weeks for bank holidays.

Structured Pre-school classes will be term time only at 35 weeks a year.

6th September: All welcome packs, registration forms and photography consent forms have been emailed out to all gymnasts current and new who have confirmed their sessions for the new venue.

The payment information and your September invoice are being emailed out seperately.

Please make sure you check your spam / junk box if they dont appear in your inbox.  Any problems - please email

5th September:  *****IMPORTANT INFORMATION*****

As we have only recently found out our start date at the new venue, the invoices have been issued later than usual. Therefore we are setting the fees due by date as Friday 15th September.

Please be aware that fees will usually be due between the 1st and 7th of each month so please be patient and don't set up a standing order until Octobers invoice is issued.

3rd September: During the next week a welcome pack, registration & photography forms, payment information and finally an invoice with your child's unique payment code will be sent via email to ALL gymnasts confirmed for sessions at our new venue. Please check your inbox and your spam folder to ensure you receive everything. We will place another notification on our website when we believe EVERYONE has been emailed.

31st August : We can confirm that sessions will begin the week commencing the 18th September.

29th August :  Progress has been coming along at the new venue. The sprung floor base has been laid, many coats of paint on walls, doors, frames and brickwork. Carpetting has begun of the entire gym, however there has been a delay with the fitting of this flooring and delivery of some of our equipment. With this in mind please all be aware that there is a possibility that we may have to delay opening.  Everybody is working as hard as possible however as with any building project we are at the mercy of contractors. Please keep visiting this page and our facebook page for regular updates.

24th July : EVERY CURRENT MEMBER should have received their NEW session options or timetable (by a slip or an email - please also check your Spam box). If you have NOT received this please send an email with subject heading REQUIRE NEW SESSIONS and provide your childs full name and date of birth to

21st July :  Due to our timetable changing for the new gym, gymnasts are being given their new times and options as applicable. If your gymnast is not at gym do not worry, any slips not handed out will be emailed.  There is a deadline for your reply. You must reply ONLY via the email address

Milly Beasley, Tilly Owen, Tia Tolbart, Phobe Kenny, Olivia Shingles, Layla Terry. North Washam Gymnastics Clubs County Squad Members 2015

North Walsham festival winners - chiledren The Tick Tocks - Olivia Tuddenham, Milly Beasley, Phoebe Kenny

North Walsham Festival, which took place from June 21 to 28, attracted 9,000 people to a busy week of events.

More than 200 artists and performers and 1,300 children and young people were directly involved.

And Arts North Norfolk have announced they plan for a similar event next year.

Director and chief executive Joseph Ballard said: “The festival was about making our town of North Walsham a destination for residents and visitors. The events attracted people of all ages and I’m really pleased with the positive energy and feedback it has created locally.

“Celebrating local talent is a very important thing for any festival and we put the community into the centre of all events, including having both sets of awards from the talent show and exhibition voted by the public.”

The Festival Open Art Exhibition saw nearly 400 votes for the People’s Choice Award.

Rod Dyble, who lives in North Walsham, won with his painting of the town clock.

The overall winner of the Big Talent and Variety Show, voted for by the audience, was vocal group Into The Crowd, who all attend North Walsham High School.

The adult category winner was percussionist Perry Miller, aka Dr Thunderoll, and winner of the children’s category was the children’s mixed dance and gymnastics group Tick Tocks.

North Walsham Gymnastics Club – Changes to watching training sessions

Following our recent committee meeting, we would like to implement the below with effect from June 2015 regarding parents/carers watching the gymnastic training sessions.

For gymnasts training 2 or more hours a week parents/carers will only be able to watch on a Saturday training session. (It was previously agreed 1 session per month but the executive committee have now increased this) The reason to implement a restriction is because it can be a distraction for coaches and gymnasts, this can reduce the quality of the session and therefore have a detrimental effect on the progress and overall performance. For recreational gymnasts who train only 1 or 2 hours a week parents/carers will still be able to watch from the viewing gallery, however we would discourage watching every session.

Other clubs in the area successfully adopt similar policies, and the welfare officers will be monitoring these changes and the committee agreed to review after a three month trial period. We appreciate your support with the above.

Many thanks – NWGC committee members

North Walsham Gymnastics Club is delighted to have secured major funding from Sport Englands Inspired Facilities.

Norfolk County Voluntary Championships

UEA hosted the County Voluntary Levels in September 2014. This was the first year to introduce the new County Level 7 and 6 allowing less advanced and younger gymnasts to get started in Womens Artistic Competitions. Last year North Walsham Gymnastics Club entered 3 gymnasts at Pre level grades, It is now called Level 7 with a slightly easier requirements also allowing gymnasts of any age to enter this level. Layla Terry showed amazing poise against a strong opposition with the second best vault and bar score for her age group to finish in a credible 4th posision. In 6th Place Phoebe Kenny only 6 years old held her own as the smallest and youngest competitor. Training only a few hours per week she certainly showed that with determination she can achieve the required elements.

In the 8/9 years section Milly Beasley competed a first class and first place bar routine which saw her win the bronze medal. Rosie Bolton had a solid and very composed competition which scored her a third place on floor and overall 5th posistion in a large age group. Lily McCombe finished in 12th with only gaining the required elements a few weeks before hand and she will cerainly be looking to up her score at the next competition. Olivia Tuddenham finished in 13th with a second place score with her  beautifully stretched floor routine.

Tilly Owen produced a brilliant 4th overall place in the 10+ age group gaining a 3rd on vault and a 3rd on floor. Once Tilly can believe in herself and gain confidence she will surely gain the bronze with only 0.20 behind this time. Cara Hayes Bradley and Rebekah Turner won join silver with their bar routines and gaining very respectful  6th and 7th places overall but both need to work on their vaults and tumbling to continue at this high level.

The new level 6 competition has slightly harder requirements and in the 8 years age group Olivia Shingles placed 3rd winning a bronze medal. She was top on bars even though she had not at this time performed her upstarts which would have given the other competitors a bonus. Olivia came 3rd on floor with her working hard on presentation. She was harshley marked on her beam routine which she did not falter and although others had 1-2 falls her score remained low, something she will be keen to prove to the judges at her next competition. Eloise Thompson gained 5th place overall in the 9/10 age group following up 5 TNAG competitiors and followed by 4 Norwich. She gained a first place on vault and a strong set of scores throughout. Sophie Thompson came in 10th place which is unusual for her. Her beam score was particularly low,  she suffered 1 fall but gained composure for her beautiful 180 split leap at the end. Amy Mann and Lauren Edens finished this round competing in the 11+ age group. They came joint 5th overall with amy gaining a third pace on a beautifully coreographed beam and Lauren on a balletic and stetched floor routine.

Christina Wilson was a lone competitor for North Walsham Gaining a 5th overall place at Level 5, a much more difficult level with tough requirements. She kept her composure and stuck her beautiful beam routine.

North Walsham Gymnastic Club – Newsletter April 2014
After a busy start to the year I would like to welcome all our new committee members and thank everyone for your time and
commitment. A welcome pack is now available on our website for all parents and gymnasts. If you are a gymnast 14 years or over,
please let me know if you would be interested in taking your first coaching course. Please check out our facebook page and website to
keep upto date of on-going changes and events. Alexis
Watching sessions – The coaches have noticed that there are increasing numbers of parents watching the competition sessions. This can
be detrimental to the gymnast and off putting for the coach. Please read our ‘developing gymnasts to their full potential’ on our website
under downloads. Our preference is if parents would only watch a maximum of one 2 hour session a week. Thanks for your
understanding regarding this matter.
Safety notice – On a Thursday evening, can all parents enter and exit the balcony from the outside door as adult hockey takes place in
the hall and is very dangerous for people to walk through.
Coats / Shoes / Clothing - As you are probably aware the gym, especially near the doorway, gets very busy during session switch over
times. Due to the fact that we use every inch of the hall and the vault run up is so close to the benches please can we ask that all clothes,
shoes, etc (with exception of 1 small bag with chalk, guards and a drink) are left in the changing room or in the blue cupboard to the left
of the gym when the roller skating is not on. On Saturday am/pm when the roller skating takes place please leave belongings either in the
blue cupboard or neatly off the floor to the back of the benches where they cannot be tripped over.
Insurance – The British Gymnastics Insurance Policy prohibits any member to wear earrings when at gym sessions. As from now we are
no longer allowing gymnasts to wear ear tape and if they are unable to take them out they will be asked to sit out of the session. We
recommend that if your child wants their ears pierced and are a non competitive member they wait until the summer holidays.
Competition / Development Groups – In the summer please can gymnasts bring trainers to sessions, we are hoping to take part in some
endurance training on the track outside to build up fitness levels.
UNIFORM – Sales since September have raised £500. Please
remember bring in old items to sell on a 50 / 50 basis.
RAGBAG – If you have any old clothes you no longer require, please
put them in a bag and place them in the equipment cupboard which help
us to raise funds.
SAINSBURYS VOUCHERS – Please place in the box in the sport
centre reception area.
EASTER GYM SCHOOL –This was very successful and raised £300
for club funds, we hope all who attended had a fun time.
A BIG well done to all gymnasts who competed in the County and
Compulsory Grades – everyone passed. Please view website for write
CONGRATULATIONS goes to Lilian Wells, Olivia Shingles, Sophie
Osborne, Isabelle Mardle and their coaches who have gained a place in
the prestigious County Squad this year.

Christmas Display

posted 11 Feb 2013 03:27 by Alexis Thurston

On Sunday the 9th December, North Walsham Gymnastic Club held their annual Christmas display at the Sport Centre in town where they hold weekly sessions.  The club currently has 100 + members with a waiting list equally as long and the money raised at the event goes towards the maintenance and purchase of new equipment to benefit everyone. Head Coach Alexis Thurston said “it is a great opportunity for the children to all come together and show family and friends what they have learnt throughout the year.  Our aim is to inspire a generation whether they are training for recreational reasons or competitively to achieve their own personal goals”.

During the display all gymnasts had the chance to show their skills in front of a large audience by performing on the beam, tumble track, vault and showing their abilities with well-choreographed floor routines. The event concluded with an awards ceremony to celebrate the many achievements by the gymnasts at competitions during 2012, this included at County and Regional levels, as well as the clubs very own ‘Gympics’ event in the summer. There was also time for the coaches to perform their own routine which received the biggest cheer of the afternoon.

Over the last couple of years the club has created two development squads for girls between the ages of 4-7 who train up to three times a week. Alexis also said ‘It is my dream that one day we can have our own facility’.   The club continues to go from strength to strength and is continually exploring options for some permanent premises, this would allow an increase in opportunities to develop the club further and give greater stability for the future.
